Life is about choices.
IMO, most people skip making choices cause they fear the unknown.
“what if it’s not as I planned?”
“what if I hate it?”
“what if I get laughed at?”
Yesterday I told the story of why we decided to move to Las Vegas. But the real story is why my wife and I had decided to move.
Las Vegas was an afterthought - we had simply decided to move.
During 2021 we were thinking of many places to potentially settle in. No where we were considering was meant to be permanent, so it made the idea of moving much simpler.
We initially landed on Kansas, potentially joining forces with my CRO and many of the PushPress team in Overland Park.
However, as we thought about it, we realized moving to Kansas was much closer to a one way door: something that would require a lot of energy to undo.
I try to make as many decisions as I can with a two way door approach. If it's a wrong decision - we can easily revert. There’s no harm in trying something that you can undo with minimal effort.
Thus, we decided on moving to Vegas. From Los Angeles, it was a short 4.5 hour van haul that we could easily pack up and move back if we hated it.
After this experiment, we’re actively discussing moving either further east or even experimenting with Europe.
And trust me… We’ll be looking for a two way test on Europe before we fly everything across the pond.
Tbh I'm not even sure how I found this post, but loved the two-parter insight on your move. My wife and I are considering leaving Ohio (where we've both spent the majority of our lives, although not exclusively) to either a big city (LA/NY) or just somewhere more active (maybe Tampa? Charleston?). I'll keep an eye out for any update posts to see if you guys are enjoying the choice you made!
