Imagine you are home alone and you hear your dog start to bark outside. Something is clearly agitating it. Your Ring floodlights and sensors are going off… and then all of a sudden the dog stops barking.

Silence.

That’s when it’s time to get really worried.

In our businesses we’re often paying attention to the dog that’s barking. It might be a noisy client, an upset team member, or some product line or process that’s obviously broken.

A dog barking will always get attention. There’s something wrong, and you’re being alerted to it.

But have you actively decided to listen for the dog NOT barking.

Ask Yourself Daily - What Dog Isn’t Barking?

Doing so requires you to pause in your day to day and ask yourself “Amid all of the dogs that area barking right now, can I notice if one has stopped?”

A customer that’s gone silent. A team member who’s has dialed back their care or attention to your customers. Maybe it’s as simple as the toilet cleaning process which has fallen to the wayside.

Each of these dogs, when they stop barking, becomes the potential for a huge problem tomorrow.

Pay close attention to the dogs not barking… and give them the attention they need before they become a big issue later.
